Re: ID Help Please

I was not able to ID it so, I just made up a name for it. It seems to be growing on it's own roots. I looks like the original leader died and it branched out from suckers. It might have started as a random seedling grown for root stock.

From: http://www.jamesandthegiantcorn.com/2010/08/31/apple-genome-part-2/ : "Many successful apple varieties are actually triploids (they have three copies of each chromosome instead of the usual two) and don’t produce fertile pollen. Growing these varieties is even more complicated because the...

Re: What are best varieties to espalier in english garden

I have been researching espaliers and plan to plant an acre of espaliers next year. The variety must be a spur bearer. Spur bearers tend to be less vigorous, so a larger rootstock is recommended. M26 to M106 would be ideal. I am leaning towards M7 rootstock and hoping I will not need much additional...

Re: Hello ;)

I have a back acre that I am planting just for fun. It has peaches, plums, cherries, apples. Figs, mulberry Asian pears and paw paws are on the way. I personally like standard trees the best. When you plant a standard tree, chances are someone will be enjoying it 40 years later. On the top 3 acres I...
