Cyanide is present in very small quantities in the pip. You would have to eat a lot of cores to do yourself any harm, though.

I'm looking to plant an apple tree this autumn, but I need help choosing a suitable variety.

I'm looking for three things:

• disease resistance
  flavour - I like Cox's
  long storage - preferably well into the new year

What would you choose?
