it means a tree that grows spurs of fruit as opposed to say tip bearing trees which fruit on new wood growth.

Most non commercial apples will be smaller due to commercial growers ferti-bombing the trees for size :wink: Also, the green will be areas not exposed to sun and the red will be areas exposed to the sun!
