When you plant them, do not amend the soil with any mulch materials. Just use the native dirt that came out of the digging process.

Even tho they are small when they are mailed to you, give them plenty of room between trees. Find out how big they are really going to get, and do not crowd them.

I think I have heard that it can take up to 5 years for all traces of juglone to be broken down. Might be a neat way of dwarfing a standard size apple tho!
