I just found this forum and wanted to say hi to everyone first of all. It looks like this forum is fairly new, but I'm hoping I will get lucky and find an Expert to answer a very hard question (actually several in one) for me. I want to start a Nursery propegating Apple tree's (among others) for wildlife, but I am finding it very hard to find the following information:
1st & most importantly, I need trees that DROP thier Apples through out October- November and December (at least) with drop dates overlapping so there are always apples on the ground.
COLD tolerant to At Least zone 5. STRONGLY PREFER zone 3 or 4 { The colder the better }
Produce quickly, heavily & annually.
Are as Disease and Pest free as possible (ie. "care free" or "spray free").
Are "Good Keepers".
Can tolerate wide range of soils. (Rootstocks should take care of this?)
Now that you are done laughing , can someone give it a shot.
HELLO!

The date that the apples drop changes from season to season. Also apples that drop in southern Michigan will drop on different dates in northern Michigan. While not related directly to your question, you might be encouraging the spread of TB in your local deer heard by encouraging group feeding sites. Where are you located?
