Does anyone recognise this variety?

Post by Pammy1975 »

Tree approx 70 years old.

Height: 5-6 metres, 18-20 feet.

Tree has started to drop red apples (mostly those with parasites).

These photos as at today (mid August 2011).

Any help much appreciated.

Location (just outside London, UK).

Entire tree (ignore brown leaves in central section of tree, this is ivy that has been cut off after I took over the garden 3 months back).

Have a look at Worcester Pearmain as well, also widely planted in the UK, and one of the parents of Discovery - so they do look quite similar, but Discovery is sometimes a bit flatter whereas Worcester does have that Pearmain shape more often.
