Plum Curculio

Post by Sgt Blunk » Mon Oct 03, 2011 4:19 pm

I have several apple trees in my backyard in SE Michigan. Every spring they get invaded by plum curculio. The Winesap seems to be hit the hardest. Any suggestions for an over the counter treatment to mitigate the damage they cause?

Use Imidan (over the counter here in Vt) At tight cluster, petal fall and at ten day intervals through end of June for PC generally speaking. However you may be able to get on a IPM alert e-mail list from your local extention service for best results. PC will be more or less dependant on weather from year to year and timing may vary a bit. Generally what I posted above will help a ton though.

I agree Imidan is your best bet if you can get it. May be under another name. Look for the active ingredient Phosmet.
