The origin of White Winter Pearmain is still puzzling us.
Some people claim that it is of English origin - in Norfolk AD 1200, whilst another school says it is from American origin. We must be careful not to confuse White Winter Pearmain, with synonyms such as White Pearmain and Permain.
Does anybody know the exact origin of this variety?

Re: White Winter Pearmain
Two seperate varieties. Winter Pearmain is an heirloom variety dating from around the 13th Century from England. White Winter Pearmain is from the 1800's in the USA where a traveling tree salesman lost the tags on his trees and came up with the name.
I grow both of these varieties and they are different.
