Topping off because of excess growth?

Topping off because of excess growth?
Last year when I received my first five trees, they looked like they had been trimmed and topped off at the nursery. Two of my apples (Hewes Virginia and Claville Blanc) are now 6-8 feet tall. Should I top off both? I will post photos sometime within the next week. Thanks - Mike

This should get you started.

Once you establish the shape of your tree, then maintaining a height low enough that you can spray and pick is important for a home orchard. I have a pair of loppers that are about 30" long. I keep the upward growth cut to as high as I can reach with the loppers.
