Sour green apples

Post by Rick » Sun Dec 30, 2007 1:56 pm

I hope someone can help. For years I have been trying to find out about the apples that I loved to eat as a kid. I would love to grow some since they seem to be hard to find. The apples that I am looking for are smallish (about the size of a tennis ball or a little larger), green and very sour. I grew up in the mid-atlantic states; but I also saw (and ate) them from a tree alongside a road in Germany. It is not a granny smith apple (unless they are much more sour when they aren't fully ripe). It is strange to me that you can find sour apple candy and flavorings everywhere - but not what inspired the taste. I certainly hope that someone can help.
