I have many Triploid apple trees. Luckily I have Diploids and one crab (Siberian Crabapple). I have an area where I can plant a Crabapple in the center of the two apple rows. I read that the Hornet Crab is one of the two suggested for the UK. Hornet Crab is diificult to find in the USA. Does anyone know where I can order one? Also heard Chestnut Crab is a good pollinator and available nearby. I may resort to buying scions of pollinators and graft to obtain suitable pollinators.

In the USA we cannot easily obtain Golden Hornet crab apple yet, however for those of us who need a pollinator or two, here is a short listing of American crab apples that I have started to put together:

The best for pollination in the USA:
Chestnut Crab
Centennial
Whitney

Others for pollination:
Manchurian
Indian Summer
Snowdrift

As I discover more Crab Apples that are great pollinators, I will add to this listing.

Malus Dolgo (sometimes known as Pink Glow) is sometimes available in the USA (and widely available in the UK). It is one of the earliest crabapples, so a good partner for early-blooming apples.

Golden Hornet is worth trying to find if you have problems with late-blooming apples, because it is one of the latest crabs.
