In the book, "Sweet and Hard Cider: Making It, Using It and Enjoying It" Amy Proulx and Lew Nichols talk about some apple varieties, pros and cons etc. While this information was very general there was mention of growing Cox Orange Pippen on a dwarfing rootstock to limit the problems associated with it.
That was as far as the info went, somewhere I read that with many of the Cox sports that, when resistance was obtained the flavor came out too. Is there a happy medium? Has anyone successfully planted Cox Orange Pippen on MM or Geneva rootstock and lived to tell? Have they done it in Zone 5 or 6?
