Unknown type of apple - help please

Hello
I wonder if anyone has any idea what variety of apples these are? We found them growing recently in the overgrown walled garden of an old Victorian mansion in Yorkshire, England. The apples are very large, twelve centimetres from tip to toe (or more), and when ripe the skin can display a pinkish hue. They are quite tart, but not overly so, but are delicious and very juicy indeed.
Best regards
