State Fair Apple Trees

Post by raeleen »

We have a State Fair apple tree that produced a whole lot of apples, however they are the size of peas and haven't gotten any bigger. I suspect that we need to cut a bunch of the apples off so that the remaining can grow but, how many do we cut? Do we trim the flowers instead of the apples? We know nothing about this tree and can't find anything on line. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, you must winter prune and thin fruit to garner large apples.
