orchards in raleigh NC?

Post by macmanmatty » Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:47 am

I will be traveling to raleigh NC in the next couple days and wondered if anyone knew of any good orchards to visit there. I would like to try some good fresh apples and pears. I am also interested in scion wood. If you know any good places that sell or trade scion wood (mainly apple and pear) you can list them too.

Thanks

Not sure how close these people are to your travels, but it would be worth linking with them, as they are the most probable apple enthusiasts in that area:

Tom Brown
7335 Bullard Road
Clemmons, NC 27012
Phone: 336-766-5842

Century Farm Orchards
Reidsville, NC

I think Century Farm has scionwood of locally explored apples and pears, which means that they have limited distribution, but apparently work very well in that particular local. I find such very interesting!

Let me know how useful these contacts were!

Do they give a reason for no visitors in October? That seems odd.
