unknown variety

I have found a fruiting tree with large(1" long) oval/olive shaped fruit. I have tried the flesh and it is somewhat sweet, slightly acidic apple flavoured. What has puzzled me is that the seed is just like an olive pit. the fruits are a bronze/brown when ripe. Does anyone know what I have found?
