I'm attempting to brew some apple or pear cider and I was wondering if anyone knew a good orchard in the Halton Hills, Ontario area to purchase the fruit in bulk (and relatively cheap). Also, are there any types of apples or pears that are better than others for making alcoholic ciders?

Can't help with sourcing. The varieties for cider are many Bitter, Tannic, Sweet, Acid and Aromatic. Put these together with multiples or find a varietal cider apple. Some of my favorite sweet and hard cidering apples are Ashmeads Kernal, Spitzenburg, Zabergau Reinette, Claygate Pearmain, and I just start throwing in whatever- Bramleys, Jonagold, Elstar, Wickson and Whitney crabapple, Quince, pears.
