Can anyone recommend a few varieties of apple that i can grow in the north west of England that are similar to a granny smith, i like the firm texture and the acidity, a lot of other apples i find too watery/mushy
I was set on buying a granny smith tree but it seems the fruit is unlikely to ripen where we live
Thanks

Re: Similar to Granny Smith
Sturmer Pippin is quite similar to Granny Smith - but also unlikely to ripen in your area.
Instead, why not try some cooking apple varieties - they will have the acidity of Granny Smith, if not the dense texture.
