My suggestion is to talk to your local orchard. Typically, if they press cider, they freeze some because it would go bad too quickly otherwise. At least that is how it is here in my neck of the woods. You might be right though...some of the "big boys" might not want to mess with such small...

The orchard owners i've talked to around my neck of the woods have had their entire crops wiped out this spring. It was so warm then got to freezing temperatures and killed off the blossoms.

As far as an apple I can walk into any store and pick up, it's Granny Smith, hands down. I'm always in pursuit of a large, firm, and tart apple. Especially one that I can get from a local orchard.
