Check the table at this link from the University of Arkansas (better yet, download it):

Re: Stanley Plums
I will never by another (fruit) tree from a mail order catalog like Henry Fields, Gurneys, Arbor Day Society, etc. They either don't guarantee what they sell or don't replace gratis if the tree dies. I plan to cut down and dig out the roots of the dead tree this autumn. In its place I will plant a s...
Re: Hello?
Great growing weather on the east coast also. Much rain (I hope not too much). My five Calville Blanc apples (firs time bearing) are about 2.3-3" in diameter and two are starting to blush red however still light green; normally these are yellow apples. Are they ready to pick? The OP website ind...

Brown's Orchard is less than five miles from me. A pint basket of five large, common apples goes for $3.95 this year.

Re: Good Pollinator for Arkansas Black trees
Black Arkansas is triploid and will not cross with other triploid apples. Make sure you obtain a diploid or crabapple like the previous answers indicate. Check http://www.pickyourown.org/apples.htm for a listing of what type of midseason apples are available when Arkansas Black ripens. Use the OP we...

Re: APPLE PRICES
Hi Bill - Around here in S. central PA, a half bushel of "regular" apples goes for 9.95. The only time I had the opportunity to purchase antique apples, I was speaking to the orchard owner about this website and mentioned my search for OP apples. He then proceeded into the freezer and brou...

Can some apple trees out grow susceptibility to rust?
When I planted my Muscat de Bernay three years ago and Tremlett's Bitter two years ago, they had stunted growth and affected heavily by cedar rust. However this year, I assume they adapted to the soil and weather here and have finally set some good growth. Even though both of these were affected by ...

Re: Need list of all cedar rust resistant apples
My Golden Russet was rust prone and was knocked over in a freak storm earlier this year. No way I could have saved it so plan to replace with Goldrush. Goldrush has a pleasant tart crisp texture and supposed to be very resistant to cedar rust. If you want to try cider apples, go with Nehou and/or He...

Re: How to use Dorsett Apples that do not keep
I enjoy eating apples fresh (favorite fruit) and keep them in the salad drawer in the refrigerator, albeit I only have a few apples this year; the drawer seems to have the best/proper humidity and climate for apples that I have found (the basement is too warm at 65 degrees). If you want to process t...

Re: Is July too late for bareroot?
If you potted them up it should be no issue as long as they have drainage holes and the excess water can drain out of the soil. I would not fertilize until they start showing strong growth and that might be until next year. What is the age of the trees? It has taken three years for my bare root tree...

Re: Is July too late to plant bare root apples?
What does the bark look like especially on the younger growth/side branches)? If wrinkled, I would return them and get my money refunded. If the bark is smooth you should have leaves promptly. Let us know how it goes. Mike in Pennsylvania

Replacement for Golden Russet
My Golden Russet was cut off at the base of the graft (where the roots start) during a storm last Sunday. Since it was prone to cedar rust, I am wondering if there are any suggestions for antique varieties that are immune to less affect by cedar rust. I also prefer my apples tart and hard. What are ...
