We purchased a lake home in northwestern Wisconsin in spring, and in the fall of that year we found we had an apple tree hidden on the corner of the lot. We had a drought this summer, and the apples were much smaller, but very plentiful, (6 gallons). The previous year we had less in number, but they were larger. I am sorry I do not know the variety, but thinkit is an empire.
I have been told I should prune off some of the smaller branches to make the remaining apples larger. Is this correct? :javascript:emoticon(':?')
Confused?
Pruning for larger apples?
