Fuji Pollinator - Braeburn, Rome or Arkansas Black?

Post by Grimhilda »

I've been reading up on trees that would make an appropriate "girlfriend" pollinator for my Fuji apple sapling. (I feel like a parent arranging a marriage here, LOL!)

It looks like the "woman of choice" should be a Rome, Braeburn or an Arkansas Black. I'm not crazy about Rome apples, they are too mushy to me. Braeburns are OK, but nothing to write home about. The Arkansas Black sounds good, looks neat, but I've never tried one. I'm kinda leaning toward the Arkansas.

Any opinions on why one pollinator would be better than another for the Fuji?

Any comments about Arkansas Blacks flavor/uses? I'm not a pie baker, but we like to eat them off the tree and to make apple juice and cider.
